25th Anniversary Red Ribbon Quilt – Still time!
The Chestermere Country Fair, the longest running event ever in Chestermere's history, is now in its 27th year! Two years ago, the organizers thought it would be great to recognize families and businesses in Chestermere with a 25th Anniversary quilt project. So far, there have not been enough squares submitted for the committee to make a very large quilted hanging with these creative squares, so if you would like to submit one for your family or business, having been here in the 25th year of the Red Ribbon ( 2014) please do consider sending in a contribution. Final size of any entry must be 12" by 12" allowing for a ½" hem along each side within the 12" so don't have your image too close to the edge. Pre Cut 12" x 12" cotton squares are available for you to decorate. Also, if you want to use your printer to make a square that has a photo ( like the logos from General Store or the Fair) Carol also has ink jet paper with a cloth backing. As it is not 12" x 12" you have to attach your copied cloth onto the correct size cloth backing. Use your imagination! Celebrate your family, your volunteer group or your business--everyone is eligible to enter one quilt square.
The squares must be 12 " by 12" assuming that the 0.5" will be without decoration to allow for connecting the squares together--don't put your photocopied image, embossing, appliqueing, or quilting right to the edge! You can get a sheet of cloth with photocopy features from Carol 403 273-8778 and she also has plain white muslin on which you can attach this photocopy, or do any other decoration or embellishment that you wish. We hope that businesses and families will see this as a way to mark their presence that year here in Chestermere.
