Chestermere has scheduled a by-election for June 24, 2024, following a tumultuous period that saw the dismissal of the city’s mayor and several council members due to governance issues. This decision came after a special council meeting held on May 13, 2024, where it was also decided that nomination day would be May 27, 2024, marking the official start of the campaign period.
The political strife in Chestermere has been ongoing, stemming from a provincial investigation that uncovered significant administrative mismanagement.
