It was a warm Sunday morning on West Chestermere Drive where young Mackenzie MacGregor was doing a brisk trade in homemade bracelets and jewellery.

Taking the skills she learned from Lemonade Day, the entrepreneur set up a small sidewalk boutique to sell her wares and raise money for an end-of-year school field trip to Calloway Park with her classmates.

Although the traffic was slow, a steady stream of cyclists, walkers, and even a few cars were curious enough to stop and have a look. Even so, Mackenzie had managed to raise about $40 by midday -- more than enough to buy a few treats for her friends.

Although she would have preferred a busier location, her grandparents wanted to keep an eye on her from the house. Still, it was apparent Mackenzie was putting her newly acquired business skill to good use.

The hardest part about being a successful business lady? "Getting people to stop," she complained.
